COVID-19 Relief Fund for Metro Columbus & Detroit

Donation protected
On Saturday, May 9, a member of my family tested positive with coronavirus.

My family's story is just one of the millions devastatingly unfolding across America as you read this message. At this rate, it is not a question of "if", but "when" COVID-19 will impact your life in even more dramatic ways than it already has. We must unite to uplift and support the hurting communities we hold dear both now and in the future.

I am starting this COVID-19 Relief Fund to support the organizations and facilities in the Columbus, Ohio and Detroit, Michigan metro areas that are providing critical support to the communities most in need right now. Although Ohio and Michigan are often seen as rivals, I know that Columbus, my hometown, and Detroit, the Motor City with the highest COVID-19 death rate in America, will always have each other's back in times of trouble. All donations received will go to the following towards the funding and purchase of PPE for the following organizations and correctional facilities:
1. Columbus, Ohio metro area
——Mid-Ohio Foodbank
——Mount Carmel Hospitals
——ODRC Orient (Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Correctional Reception Center)
2. Detroit, Michigan metro area
——Gleaners Community Food Bank
——Detroit Medical Center
——Macon County Correctional Facility

I used to think that COVID-19 was, "just the flu"and that everyone was overreacting to the situation. Good Lord, was I wrong— You don't understand how desperately I wish I could take those words back.

Please take care of yourself. Please take care of your family. Please take care of your friends. Please take care of your communities. Please protect our workers, nurses, and doctors on the frontline.

Thank you for your generosity and God bless you!

About Kojoh Atta:
Kojoh Atta immigrated from Ghana and grew up in a low-income household in the Columbus, Ohio metro area.

Oh how naive Kojoh was... Back in March, Kojoh's biggest worry was about how his senior year at Stanford University got cut short and how his parents wouldn't get to see him walk across the stage as the first in his family to get a university degree in only 4 years. Life sent him a reality check. Now his only focus is uplifting the communities he holds dear.
__________
I would like to especially thank Alexia White, my Stanford classmate and favorite Detroiter, for enlightening me on the devastating impact of COVID-19 on Detroit, Michigan and supporting this relief fund effort.

(If any of you would like to talk, vent, cry, and/or strategize with me about how COVID-19 is affecting you, your family, and your community, please feel free to contact me.)
