Merlin Medical Fund

The Merlin Family has experienced more tragedy than any family should have to endure in a very short amount of time. What started as a fairy tale romance, a new marriage and blended family just a little over a year ago, has since turned into very trying times. The family lives north of Houston, Texas. Have you heard of Harvey? The Merlins fell victim to the wrath of mother nature and lost everything in the flood waters following the storm. Krystal is a teacher and coach in Magnolia, Texas and along with her family, the school family, friends, and co-workers were able to help find them a new place to live and replace most of the family's possessions that could be replaced. Jason works in construction, and the two of them were able to make ends meet and create the same loving and stable home they had prior to Harvey. THEN, the week before Christmas Jason had some disturbing symptoms which led him to  see a physician. Long story short............he was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. He has a very large mass that is located in a such a way that it is literally crushing his trachea and compressing nerves at the base of the brain. Doctors did not mince words in expaining to the Merlins the severity of the situation and the necessity for surgery as soon as feasible. Since this time, the insurance company has done nothing but exacerbate an already incredibally stressful and emotional time. The hospital and physicians have demanded a ridiculous amount of cash up front in order to schedule the surgery. Without getting onto a soapbox about what is wrong with our healthcare system and just as they thought they had figured out a way to make this surgery happen.....more bad news.  Jason had his pre-op tests done and results showed an abnormally high number for his glucose levels making it impossible to put him under anesthesia. Now he has to be seen and cleared by an endocrinologist before the surgery can happen. Of course this Dr. wants his cut as well.  PLEASE Help if you can. This surgery needs to take place as soon as possible. Jason and Krystal are two of the most hard-working, caring, loving parents, friends, neighbors, and co-workers anyone could have. They deserve our help. Thank You!!
