Merli

I've known Merli for nearly twenty years, when we were paired through a New York Board of Education mentoring program. We became friends at first sight. As the New York Post reported (http://nypost.com/2009/12/27/a-minor-miracle/ ), Merli spent her teen years in foster care, but managed to overcome adversity, graduate college and become a foster parent to her younger sister. Merli's generosity of spirit is an inspiration.

Yesterday, Merli's younger brother Yves passed away unexpectedly. It is Merli's wish that she be able to honor his memory properly but, given her current situation, she is facing financial difficulty doing so. I can't remember a cause for which I’ve solicited contributions, but I wholeheartedly believe in Merli and am asking those who know her to please help in any way possible during this very difficult time. I am hoping the amount raised can help offset the expenses of a memorial, as well as provide general assistance for Merli during this period.
