An art installation for Burning Man dedicated to children, it is composed by two interlocked tetrahedron forming a three-dimensional geometrical shape, also known as merkaba [vehicle of light] within each side there are a total of 24 triangular silver shapes reflecting the sun during the day. The double tetrahedron symbolizes harmony, equilibrium, the positive and negative, the ten corners represent equality.
DESIGNERS: Maria C. Sanchez and Jose Abreu
HOW DID THE IDEA OF AN ART INSTALLATION OF A MERKABAH ORIGINATE?
The idea originated at a children’s summer camp this year, when I was immersed and devoted to giving 500+ children freedom and nurturing their capacity to create, enabling them to design what their imagination dreamed of.
The Merkabah is dedicated to all children on earth. The art installation represents the continuation of creating endless opportunities for kids and their creativity, to become the best version of themselves. The Merkabah reminds adults to allow children stay unique [whatever that means for them] and confident in that they can do anything. Not only within the arts and design but also any subject they are passionate about. As adults, teachers, parents, friends and leaders, we sometimes forget they are humans just like us, just smaller. They want to be treated with the same respect and value. The art installation celebrates their forever curious mind, honoring their talents. We can confidently empower all children as we watch them evolve into content individuals.
