Mentoring for underserved NYC Youth

V-ELMS, an acronym for Virtual Education Life Skills Mentoring Services, is a non-profit, assisting students who have potential, but need support because of their socio-economic stratum.
These are children who cannot afford even the basic requirements of living - shelter to live, food to eat and clothes to wear. Many do not have parents or guardians that can guide and support them. These are the underserved.
Our mission is to create a supportive environment that engages and empowers these children. Through one-on-one mentorship and a focus on STEM, we help each student unlock their full potential. Our hope is that by succeeding in school (starting in 5th grade) and assisting them get to college, they will be able to live more independent and meaningful lives. In fact, we now have four students attending college - a remarkable, life-changing accomplishment for these students, and their families.
Currently we have 400 students in our program and over 120 volunteers. Donations allows each student to have a computer, access to resources, workshops and field trips.
