Mental Health Care Expenses for my Granddaughter

I am fundraising for my granddaughter, Jaida, her dad (my son Dennis), and his whole family. Times are tough and they are struggling financially. Aside from providing for his family of 5 while battling his own declining health (Dennis was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis) Dennis and Kelly (my daughter-in-law) are trying to get help for Jaida. She is 14 yr old and her mental health care needs are necessary and very expensive.

In February 2022, Jaida was diagnosed with BPD, DMDD, and ADHD. She needs more help than we ever imagined and we hardly recognize this once free-spirited, loving girl we used to know. My son and his wife adopted Jaida at age 2 along with her older brother and sister. We knew the kids were all born with addictions that might cause issues later in life, but things have been fine until Jaida's recent crisis.

Mental health care costs are outrageous!! My son has a good job and healthcare insurance, but unfortunately, the insurance company has a huge say so in my granddaughter's treatments and has not adequately covered the cost of her care. Jaida is a runner and has ran away from home and facilities 11 times, so far. She struggles so much and watching my son struggle to get her help is killing me.

Jaida got into trouble recently and faces felonly charges for her actions. This was devastating, but for once, her mental health status is working in her favor. Shes been given the chance to go to one of the top residential treatment facility in the USA, but it is 15 hours from their home, only partially covered by insurance, and again - funds fall short.

Dennis and Kelly do so much for others. They won't ask for help so I am doing it for them. They have been overwhelmed with so much in the last few months and this stress is not helpful to his own healing. Aside from daily and monthly living expenses, they've had to pay for her hospital stays, medication, ambulance bills, and travel expenses related to their daughter's care and they are struggling.
