Mendoza Family Flood Relief
Donation protected
Many of you have seen video footage of flash flooding in NJ which swept away cars from a local Little Falls dealership. That dealership was directly behind the Mendoza Family's house. When those cars and other debris dammed the water flow, the water was forced to redirect - and it headed straight for the Mendozas' home.
In the space of 10 minutes on Saturday, August 11th, a puddle in the Mendozas' basement had risen - filling their basement (destroying everything) and rising into their first floor (destroying almost everything there too, including Rob and Loide's master bedroom). As the water rushed through, it also created a sinkhole, which collapsed and blew out the foundation of their house (photos below). The following day, their house was deemed unsafe to live in, and was condemned. Rob's truck was also destroyed by the flooding.
Thank God, everyone is safe! However, the Mendozas are now devastated, overwhelmed, and homeless. The process of recovering will be a long journey; however, as they face the immediate future and the costs of renting an apartment, paying their mortgage, buying a car, paying to store what's left of their belongings, and replacing the essentials that were destroyed - the Mendoza Family needs help.

No one knows yet what insurance or FEMA may do in response. No one knows yet if the Mendozas will have to knock down the house and fill-in the hole. No one knows yet if their house will be rebuilt. And no one knows what all of that will cost. However, we do know that their need is real and we ask for your help to see the Mendozas through this difficult time.
We estimate at the outset that their current need is approximately $35,000. Please consider how you can help the Mendoza family in their time of need.
