Memory Trip for Liebel Family

One afternoon at work everything was moving along as normal: emails, meetings, distractions, and more. Then another email landed in my InBox and everything slowed down to a halt.
A coworker of mine, Andrew Liebel, had found out three weeks prior he has ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease.) For those of you not familiar with ALS, the prognosis is never an easy one to hear. Most patients have a two to four year window with 10% surviving longer than 10 years. The age where people normally begin seeing diagnoses of ALS is 60 years old for brand new cases and 50 years old for those where it is inherited.
Andrew is younger than 30 years old. Together with his finacee, they have two children, ages 6 and 7.
It struck a deep chord in me because I lost my own father at 5 years old and I have no memories of him at all. That’s not something I want to see repeated for anyone.
In his email he mentioned wanting to take a trip out to Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando while he can still move around without too much trouble and enjoy the magic with his family. His wish is now my goal.
To be fully transparent, there is another fundraising effort being run on another site, but it is a general request for funds to help with his medical bills and upcoming care. This effort here is strictly for the trip and to make sure his family doesn’t touch those medical funds (because they will need those later on.)
The funds raised here will go to covering the airfare (two adults, two children), hotel stay, food, admission to Disney for four days, and admission to Universal for two days. Anything and everything donated here is appreciated.
We are planning this trip for the beginning of April, so if you can help, please do so as soon as you can. Booking windows for this are coming up fast.
