Memorial Donations for Darlene Elizabeth O'Malley
Donation protected
Donations can be made here in lieu of Flower/Gifts for the Memorial of Darlene Elizabeth O'Malley. Darlene passed in her sleep on July 18th, 2019 following a 10 year battle with Posterior Cortical Atrophy. All proceeds will go to the Atlee Station YMCA. Why you may ask? Great question.
Darlene and I began going to the YMCA when Darlene started to lose her ability to ride horses as much as she pleased. We were in search of something that she could do that would empower her with success and most importantly, fun. The YMCA did exactly that. She began working on machines, running around beautiful green fields, tossing exercise balls, jumping, and having a blast with her two wonderful trainers from the YMCA (Sam and Jane).
Our family is a big believer in the fact that exercise is the best way to empower people and keep the brain and body working the best that they can. Doctors agreed with this as well and the YMCA became our sanctuary. Even more than all of this were the "Y" workers and members. They welcomed Darlene with open arms, encouraged her, and were inspired by her smile through the perseverance of her disease.
