Ya’a’t’eeh family, friends, relatives near and far.

With great sadness and heavy hearts, we are sharing the unfortunate news of the loss of my husband and father of our children, Wesley George.  Wesley ei Hashtł'ishnii nilí, Bit'ahnįį yàshchíín, Hashk'ąąn hadzohi da bi chei, 'Áshįįhi da bi nali.

He was out doing what he loved, hiking. Sadly, there was an accident that sent him on his journey into the spirit world.

We are missing him dearly. He has left a huge hole in our lives which is impossible to fill.

Wesley left an impression on everyone who encountered him. His kind, caring words, well thought out and constructive thought processes; humor, humility; and his unique ability to greet everyone as his relative. He cared tremendously about everyone, and everyone who interacted with him felt that. His love for his family is generous and endless. His prayers were inclusive of all family, extended family, coworkers, and all that mattered to him. His grandfather and grandmother were traditional healers, and his family grew up with faith in the Native American Church. His songs and drumming always gave strength, healing, and provided a feeling of peace and joy. There are endless kind and generous words to share about our beloved Wesley. Like a drop of a pebble in still water, the ripple effect of his kind and warm-hearted nature is evidenced by the many people who have reached out to us thus far. This space gives the opportunity to share your thoughts and condolences to his siblings, kids, and family.

He grew up in Sweetwater, AZ, his first footsteps started from his home near Denaa ah’. He attended NAU where we met. We have been together 35 years and married 33 years on August 22.  We have three children, Alaina, Charles, and Darren. We have lived in Kirtland, NM for almost 30 years.

He started a job in Yuma, AZ in March with Indian Health Service. He always wanted to join IHS, he saw it as a gold standard. Prior to this job, he worked for the Navajo Nation Division of Social Services for 11 years. He enjoyed working with computers and being up to date with technology. He was very proud of the fact that he was self-taught and continued to learn and teach others.

Wesley’s parents were Jimmy and Jessie George. His grandparents were George and Mary Poyer.

His siblings Natoni, Celena, Sarah, Leroy, and Robyn asked that this page be created so that everyone who knew him had an opportunity to send their condolences and donate as family cannot host and gather in a traditional manner due to COVID-19. We appreciate their support at this time and ask for your support of them as well.

Thank you,
Neva
