On October 28 2019, Rogelio Zamora Sr was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. Due to his quiet and reserved nature, he didnt wish for his illness to be public to not worrry others. He fought a good fight but after sometime, felt it was necessary to be reunited with his beloved wife who also passed away from lung cancer in 2016. As well as his brother and sisters in heaven. He peacefully passed with his loved ones around him on November 22, 2019.
Rogelio was a kind, gentle and calm soul. He loved to travel and spent his time watching sports. His favorite teams were the Kansas City Chiefs and Mexico’s National Soccer Team. He was a dedicated hard worker and was employed at Lawrence Paper Company for roughly 15 years. Rogelio was also a fan of John Lennon, Pink Floyd, Los Angeles Azules, Queen, Los Broncos, Mana, Beto Lozano and so much more.
He leaves behind his three children:
Sandy Retana, who is a loving wife and a stay at home mother of 5
Rogelio Zamora Jr, who is a recent graduate of KU with his degree in Mechanical Engineering
And Yamilex Zamora, who is currently a senior at Washburn University studying Pre-Vet Biology
As well as 7 beautiful grandkids, his three siblings, Catalina Hernandez, Antonio Zamora and Elvia Botello, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Due to how fast he passed shortly after the family was aware of his diagnosis, they were unprepared for any financial burden of any end of life expense such as medical bills, ultilies, and funeral cost. We set this go fund me up to help his three children give their father the proper farewell he deserves. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated.
