Memorial Fund for Aaron James (Hart) Hill

On the 25th of December 2023, my brother (1st cousin) Aaron James Hart Hill left us unexpectedly from a non-natural passing under the supervision of correctional services. He sadly leaves behind 11 beautiful children.

Just 8 weeks before his passing, he had several concerning medical health conditions that was not attended to right away. 2 weeks later he was hospitalised for septicaemia which is a serious condition that happens when the body’s immune system has an extreme response to an infection. The body’s reaction causes damage to its own tissues and organs. Aaron was then placed in the infirmary. The care factor is questionable for the lack of duty of care in an hourly observation facility which had 24-hour CCTV monitoring.

Aaron’s physical health and mental well-being was deteriorating and it breaks our hearts to know that he was in so much pain and that more professional support could have been provided.

We hope the Department of Justice reviews the Health Insurance Act to allow Medicare into prisons that may prevent deaths in custody.

The pain and despair our family is feeling in his absence is indescribable. It’s thick, heavy and palpable. I don’t expect that to go away anytime soon, or ever… especially for his 11 children. We are shattered, and will need a lot of support navigating these next days, months, even years.

This page has been set up to help support financial costs of Aaron’s funeral and give him the send off he deserves. It is also to raise awareness in the hopes that no more families will have to go through what his family are facing.
