Melanie was seriously injured on August 13, 2013 while working on a boat in Alaska. It was at this time that she sustained an injury to her lower back and to her muscular tissue. For the last 16 months she has sought to mend her injuries through various treatments in western and alternative medicines. Little progress towards greater healing has been made, and the chronic pain which has resulted from her injury, has been constant.
Melanie is a person of great heart and faith. Her father was a preacher during her early years, in Illinois. Melanie's mother's side of the family is of Cherokee descent. Much of Melanie's adult life has been spent in the presence of spiritual teachers from many backgrounds, and the wisdom of their teachings. In her own life she is a carrier of songs and wisdoms from different traditions, with a strong focus and love of Native American spirituality.
Prior to the accident, Melanie's spiritual practice was alive and vibrant as she traveled teaching spiritual workshops and guiding others in attaining greater health in body, mind and spirit. She was an avid runner and had reached a high level of mastery in the energy dynamics of the physical body. She believes that she will again be able to be of service, to teach and offer her gifts for the upliftment and empowerment of humanity, but at this time the pain and stress of her injuries prevents her from living her dreams and she is currently dedicated to her healing and full recovery.
Over the years Melanie heard stories about "John of God." In the many months since she was injured, she began to hear more and more about the success of his healing work, again. It is Melanie's wish to go with a guide for a healing session with "John of God" in Brazil in April, 2015. It is for this purpose that she gratefully comes to GoFundMe. She hopes to reach her goal by the end of February so she can prepare for her journey.
