Melanie Belliveau lives a simple country life in Cocagne, NB with her partner Ralph and their 2 beautiful dogs. Those who know Mel know she is always there to help others, a giver by nature, and a true sweetheart with a smile that can light up any room.
In April 2019, after months of visits to the ER and a battery of tests, Mel learned she had a 4cm tumor growing outside her cervix. She received the life-shattering diagnosis of stage 3 cervical cancer at the age of 36.
Doctors mapped out the course of treatments: chemo, brachytherapy and radiation. Mel summoned all her courage and every bit of strength she had to tackle the long struggle ahead, while Ralph took time off to support her both physically and emotionally when her body weakened from the treatments.
Things became even more serious when Mel suffered a severe allergic reaction from the 3rd round of chemo, sending her body into anaphylactic shock. What was already a challenging battle turned out to be even more strenuous on Mel and her family.
Mel and Ralph put all else aside to focus on the everyday tasks that gradually became a strain on her. Over time this has placed a financial burden on their household, as both are self-employed with limited resources.
It will be a few more months before Mel gets the all-clear and is capable of working again. In the meantime, bills are accumulating.
Mel and Ralph need your love and support during this difficult time. Anything and everything you can do to help will allow Mel to focus on getting stronger without the added stress.
