The Jackson Family Fund

Donation protected
Hi I'm Makeda Campbell, team mom, to the Jr Midget division of the youth football group, Staten Island Hurricanes Organization. This year we advanced to national championship games like we've done every year prior but this year we played all games minus one player. Mekhi made it all the way down to Florida from New York this year but never touched the field because he got very sick. On Tuesday, December 5, 2017, Mekhi was taking to the ER, admitted and then transferred to ICU at the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children. What was a business trip for the Jr Midget coaching staff quickly turned personal. Our goal to win turned into a goal of healing for Mekhi. The loss of a player to injury is crucial to the success of the team. Losing a player to a sickness is devastating. Which is exactly the feeling his parents felt leaving everything behind in New York that day and arriving to Florida seeing their child helpless. In our efforts to help make this a smooth transition for the parents we were able to call on parents of the team to contribute funds for food. The Jackson's were grateful but had no plans of leaving their sons side in ICU. They continue to send us updates on the changes in his health. He was finally diagnosed with encephalitis after days of extensive testing. Even though Mekhi is getting stronger and stronger and was moved to Pediatrics on Monday, December 11, 2017 he will still need 10-15 days of inpatient rehabilitation. This means his parents will be there for the holidays away from their jobs and other children in NYC. I'm asking everyone who reads this campaign and believes that Mekhi is our mvp to make a donation. The Jackson family will be able to purchase food, toiletries, launder clothing and pay for temporary housing while in Florida. Funds will also be used to take care of households expenses, provide meals and other necessities into the holiday season for the four children in NY. I gladly accept any donations to allocate to the Jackson family as whole and in parts in Florida and New York. Makeda Campbell Team Mom of the SHO Jr Midget Coaching Staff
