MeKayla's Trip To Memphis Tennessee
Donation protected
MeKayla Gist is a Senior at Chapman High School in Inman, South Carolina. In 2015 she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, which is a type of bone cancer. Unfortunately, she had to have her left leg amputated and had part of her lungs removed. She is now healthy and is in remission. Because her high school experience wasn't what she expected it to be, she has made it her goal to have the best Senior Year she can possibly have. It was always her dream to be voted Homecoming Queen, so she ran for the title. She ran for Homecoming Queen in October 2016 and took home the crown. She later reieved a letter in the mail from America's Homecoming Queen's offering her a great oppertunity to possibly become America's Homecoming Queen. The organization give select few homecoming queens from across America to be apart of the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee in December 2016. As part of the trip there, the queens will get to visit St Jude's Children's Research Hospital. MeKayla wants to take this opportunity to met children who has gone through what she has and show them that there is hope. This opportunity is very important to her and she hopes to attend. There is no doubt that she will be very grateful to all of the caring people who will help her achieve her hopes and dreams to help others.
