Support Meishel Ryan’s Recovery

Meishel Ryan is a 32 year old from Conway, Arkansas. Meishel has three beautiful children Lily 4, Lawrence IV 3, and Emery 1. Meishel has become my closest friend since I entered into this new phase of motherhood. She is crazy about her kids, spending all of her free time caring for them. Meishel is also an active Registered Nurse at Baptist Hospital in Conway, AR. She has dedicated her life to caring for others who are sick or hurting.

On October 31, 2019 Meishel was hospitalized with sudden numbness of her Left side and stroke like activity. Meishel was hospitalized for 3 days, and after 9 scans was found to have a massive brain tumor. Over the next 3 months Meishel continued to have seizures that seemed to be increasing in frequency leading to her having a 9 hour craniotomy on February 7, 2020 to remove the 6 cm tumor.  She is still awaiting the results of her pathology report to know the exact grade of her tumor, but will find out later this week and we will continue to provide updates. Meishel awoke from surgery with left side numbness and weakness, worse on her arm than her leg. She is going to inpatient rehabilitation once discharged from the hospital and will be requiring extensive occupational, physical, and speech therapy over the next several months to regain her function and ability to walk and care for her family. Meishel’s family is anxiously awaiting her return home.

In addition to all of this strain Meishel’s youngest daughter Emery, who is now 18 months old, was born with a rare condition resulting in her being profoundly deaf. Meishel has spent the last 18 months at countless doctor appointments, including physical therapy, speech and hearing therapy, and occupational therapy for Emery. She has been working so hard to learn sign language and teach it to her kids, so that they can communicate with Emery.

To say this last year and a half has been difficult on Meishel and her family is an understatement. God calls us to care for the sick and hurting. The Gospels speak to us of Jesus' great concern and love for the sick. Throughout His public ministry, Jesus' Compassion and love for the sick shine through. Anything you can do to help us is greatly appreciated, whether it's donating, spreading the word, or just sending your thoughts and prayers for Meishel. Thank you for taking the time to read this post and help Meishel. May God bless you and your loved ones

Sincerely,
