Megan's Struggle: Cancer, Kids, and School

My name is Megan.

I am a mom of 5 crazy, amazing, smart, loving, wonderful boys who is trying to juggle everyday life, ovarian cancer, and law school all at the same time.

The recent years have been a huge challenge as my husband and I became separated, and I was a single mom for the last 3 years.

In 2020, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer while I was pregnant with my youngest son, Zayn. While pregnant, they could not treat the tumor on my ovary, and it grew to the size of a melon. My right ovary and tubes were removed when the tumor bursted my placenta, delivering Zayn 8 weeks early at the beginning of the pandemic.

In 2023, I started having health concerns. Following up on those concerns, it was found my cancer was back, and I had 2 tumors on my left ovary. I had surgery in December of 2023, saving my ovary. I was told I need one more surgery to burn the inside of my uterus to kill any cells that may be there. I put that off.

In February of 2024, I found a lump in my left breast, resulting in a breast reduction in August to remove the bad tissue.

I was released from my job 2 weeks after returning from medical leave, resulting in loss of income for my family.

With my job loss, I have become behind in housing, car, and everyday needs.

Recently, I have been having stronger health concerns, and I can no longer put off my last surgery.

I am asking for help so I can get this surgery and not have to worry about if my boys will be okay.

I have been behind in housing bills, and I need to get my truck registered to be able to get my kids where they need to go and to appointments as I am alone in this journey.

I am also attending law school through Liberty University so I can provide a much better life for my children. I was awarded financial aid, which was a huge burden.

But the financial burden for my family is still here!
