Megan Gilstorff - Stage 4 Kidney Cancer
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Megan, and I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer two weeks ago. I have Clear Cell Renal Cancer which is typically a cancer that only men 40+ are diagnosed with. I am one of the youngest people to ever get this and one of a very few females to get this.
Unfortunately this cancer was found very late and it has already metastasized to other parts of my body. This cancer does not respond to chemo or radiation treatments, like most cancers due. My only treatment option is immunotherapy. I started the first round of immunotherapy treatments this week. I have at least 7 more treatments to go but chances are I will need to go through another round of this treatment. We hope that the immunotherapy will shrink some of the cancer to make me a candidate for surgery. the whole of my kidney needs to be removed however as of now it is too large to be removed.
I am unable to work at this time due to the side effects that can happen. My support system is great and I want to make sure I can focus on getting better and not be wondering if I will be able to pay my medical bills. Insurance helps of course but the cost of co-pays, deductibles, medications and even the gas to and from appointments adds up very quickly. The medical bills are already piling up and this just started. I have an extremely difficult uphill climb ahead of me but I have a positive outlook about this. Any donations or even just sharing on social media is appreciated so much.
