Medranos- Hurricane Harvey Relief

Donation protected
As we know, Hurricane Harvey devestated many people in Houston and the surrounding areas last week. Amanda and Josh Medrano lost almost everything on the first floor of their house and they do not have any flood insurance. They also have a 3 year old daughter and 1 more on the way. Any assistance is appreciated, because they will not be receiving any financial help from an insurance company.

Alex  and I, while also from Houston and affected by the flood, want to see the Medranos get the help they need. I have known both Josh and Amanda since elementary school and the we were married with the Medranos by our sides. This money will be used to help cover the cost of mudding the house, redoing the walls and floors, replacing large furniture pieces that we destroyed, etc.

From Josh and Amanda:
Hello everyone. Josh and I wanted to try and express our heartfelt thank you for the support and blessings you are pouring out on us. For those of you who don't know us well, we live in Dickinson just south of Houston. Our area was one of the hardest hit by Hurricane Harvey. Dickinson historically does not flood and because of this most people who live there do not have flood insurance.

Saturday we kept an eye on the weather but our house has a very large drainage ditch behind it so we were not concerned about flooding through out the day. That night we noticed the street and ditch starting to overflow. We stayed up till 3am watching the rain and rise of water but still had a good three feet of space between our house and the rising water. We woke up at 6am and the water had risen 5 ft and two of those feet covered our floors and house.

We were unable to leave until 24 hours later and stayed upstairs with our three year old trying to distract her and praying for the water to go down. By Sunday afternoon we had a break and rain and decided we needed to leave while we could. We packed a two backpacks and managed to walk out in waist/chest high water evacuating with just the three of us and our Great Dane.

We have been so blessed by all the help we have received and cant express our thanks enough. I am 7 months pregnant and our second daughter Natalie is due in just 9 weeks. When we were able to get back to the house we realized we lost everything on the first floor including our two vehicles. Every penny is a blessing and we will use the money to help rebuild our house for our daughters. Thank you!
