Vilma tiene 59 años. Padece de baja presión, diabetes e hipotiroidismo. Anteriormente tenía su propia tienda donde vendía principalmente charamuscas (refresco típico salvadoreño) y otros productos. Dado el deterioro de su condición cardíaca tuvo que dejar de trabajar. Actualmente cualquier movimiento físico le supone un gran esfuerzo puesto que su corazón le trabaja a un 35 por ciento.
Vilma necesita tomar Cilostazol (anticoagulante) y Pentoxifilina (para reducir la densidad de la sangre y dolores a causa de su baja presión), medicamentos que en la mayor parte de las ocasiones no logra encontrar en las farmacias públicas. El costo mensual de estas medicinas es de 77 USD. Previamente, logramos recolectar lo necesario para financiar 6 meses de tratamiento (Julio-Diciembre 2020). Nuestra meta es ahora recolectar los fondos necesarios para poder cubrir los costos de un año. Con tu ayuda, podemos lograr que Vilma tenga acceso a los medicamentos que necesita. Las medicinas son una carga financiera importante dado el nivel de ingresos de su hogar. Por ello, tu ayuda es importante no solo para su salud sino también para la estabilidad financiera de su familia.

Vilma is 59 years old. She has low blood pressure, diabetes, and hypothyroidism. Vilma used to operate a small corner shop where she sold mainly charamuscas (typical Salvadoran soft drink) and other products. Given her heart condition, she had to stop working. Her heart works at 35 percent of its normal capacity.
Vilma needs Cilostazol (anticoagulant) and Pentoxyfylline (blood thinners) to carry on with her daily life. These medicines are usually not available in public pharmacies. The monthly cost of these medicines is 77 USD. With your previous donations, we were able to finance 6 months of medications costs (July-December 2020). Our goal is now to be able to finance a full year of treatment. With your help, we can ensure that Vilma has access to the medicines she needs. The costs are a significant financial burden given the income level of her household. Therefore, your donations are important not only for her health but also for the financial stability of her family.
