Medicine needed for sick kitten Bodhi

Tuesday night I noticed that my 6 month old kitten’s belly was bloated and he was lethargic. The next day I took him to see his vet. They removed some of the fluid and it was yellow. He also had a very high fever. His vet said that there is fluid in his lungs. He confirmed that he has FIP. 

“Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) is a fatal viral disease caused by a strain of virus called feline coronavirus (FCoV). Many cats carry this worldwide virus. Most cats carry the feline enteric coronavirus (FECV) which, rarely causes disease in itself. When the feline coronavirus mutates into a strain of the virus that has the ability to cause disease it is referred to as the FIP virus.”

There are 2 forms of FIP, Wet (effusive) and Dry (non-effusive). Based on the accumulation offluids in his body, Bodhi has Wet FIP. 

FIP is fatal in 95% of cats. On his own, my little man has a 5% chance of surviving... This is devastating. There wasn’t anything that his vet could prescribe to help... but he encouraged me to look into Mutian. Mutian is a supplement designed for cats with FIP. It helps boost their immune system. There are over 6,000 cats that are now  cured because of it. Before this, FIP was considered a death sentence. Now cats have a chance. 

Mutian is an 84 day treatment, plus an 84 day observation period. Based on his current weight, Bodhi needs 200mg per day. Each 200mg pill is $32. This makes the total treatment ~$2700. If he gains weight during treatment, he will need to increase his dosage. The 100mg pills are $16 each. I am able to afford some of it, but I cannot afford all of it. He will also need many follow up vet appointments to monitor his organ function. 

Anyone that knows me knows how much I love my cats. They are my world. Bodhi is my shadow. He always has to be involved in what I’m doing. He likes to go on walks and car rides. I truly hate asking for help, but I simply cannot afford this treatment on my own. I’ve already spent hundreds recently on vet bills/his neuter/etc. I love Bodhi so much. He is so young. He deserves a fighting chance. Please help me help my sweet boy. I appreciate you taking the time to read this.
