Medical/rent fund for Sykes Harris

Last night 10/18/17 my sweet brother William Sykes Harris (The man wearing the striped shirt in the photograph) was robbed and severely beaten by 5 people as he got in his car in the parking lot of the Exxon Tiger Mart at the corner of Hwy 70 & Old Hickory Blvd. His eye is so badly damaged he may lose his sight, if not his eye (I would post a picture of his injury, but it's quite gruesome and I don't want to shock people), and he keeps reliving the attack over and over in his mind so I'm sure he's going to need therapy to help him deal with everything. Sykes hasn't been able to work lately due to diabetes & a severe back problem, so he doesn't have much....these animals stole one of the only valuable things he had, his phone (a gift from me), and they tried to steal his car, thankfully they were unsuccessful in that. Unfortunately my brother doesn't have health insurance so these violent criminals will not only have cost him a lot of physical damage/pain & his peace of mind, but they will have cost him thousands and thousands of dollars after all his medical bills come in. The need for funds is quite urgent because his rent is going to be due very soon, and he supposed to go see an eye specialist tomorrow and I'm sure that doctor's fees will be quite high, so some neighbors of mine suggested I start a go fund me page to try and get Sykes some help.
My brother is kind to everyone he meets, in fact he had a homeless veteran, Dan, move in with him and took excellent care of him until he unexpectedly passed away a few months ago. During the time that Dan lived with him, my brother and Dan became the best of friends and my brother happily shared what little he had and they were a blessing to each other. It makes me so furious and sick to my very soul to see my brother so horribly injured and truly afraid. Sykes has suffered greatly during most of his life, our father committed suicide by shooting himself in the head and unfortunately my brother was the one who found him....four days before he turned 16, so he has struggled with PTSD, depression and anxiety ever since. This horrific attack is just going to add to his struggles. I'm starting this page because my brother desperately needs help paying for his medical bills from this attack and to pay his rent because his Job search is going to be put off until he can get better. Please know that anything you give will be used to help him heal (Pay medical bills) and be able to keep a roof over his head while he heals. You will have both his and my undying gratitude for any help you can give, and hopefully this will help show him there are far more good people in this world than bad.
