Medical/Home Care for Christine

Don protégé
Many of you know that Christine Buen has been fighting the battle of her life against Multiple Myleoma.

Last February, they changed her chemo as the last one stopped working. This new  chemo has really taken everything out of her and she is not doing well on it at all. She is experiencing very adverse reactions to it and I do not think she can survive this harsh of chemo. We can change it to another, but insirance won't cover it, leaving it at $2500 or more a month for this other one. She cannot continue on this chemo. Her organs are not working normally and are now failing so she cannot metabolize any of her meds and caused her to become toxic to the point of her becoming completely disoriented and so lethargic that she wasn't lucid or coherent let alone so micj as sit up. She is cureently in the hospital while they flush her system out, come up with a new care plan and defermine how we can manage her pain with out her becoming toxic again. She recently also suffered a compression fracture in her neck and is in a neck brace for 6 or so weeks. Her blood Calcium has been very high which carries all sorts of risks in itself (this type of cancer leeches the bones including calcium).

Since mid February, she has declined a great deal requiring a lot of care at home. Getting her to her appointments, following special dietary requirements and restrictions, administering meds and taking care of her special needs, insuring she has plenty of fluids, making 3 meals a day for her, while taking care of her home and all that comes with it.

The level of care she now needs insurance does not pay for at all. They will send an RN to help with plans at home etc...but not actual in home care. She needs fluids administered 3  or so times a week and having her endure a ride to and from the cancer center for that just isn't an option.
Moreover, it's nearly 2 Full time jobs to care for her that I am unable to fulfill alone. Christine cannot be left alone for me to even run errands, to get groceries, etc. And I'm unable to give fluids as well because there is no line from the port.

Her medical bills are already up to $8000 on top of everything else. We've had to make small payments in order for her to be able to continue her care and treatments. She's had 3 hospitalizations in the last month alone.

With all of that said, we need help and we need it fast. Both with the medical bills side and some in home care giver costs.

It would be welcomed if anyone can volunteer a little time here and there so I am able to do errands. Grocery shop, etc. As it would keep in home caregiver costs down. Just would need to have someone here to watch her, get her drinks, etc.

We appreciated all who reached out on the past benefit supporting her needs and are deeply appreciative of any support you can offer this fundraiser. It's very hard to hold ones hand out for help, but Christine really needs us, so I'm extending the hand on her behalf.

Prayers and positive thoughts are as important as any part of this, so if that is what you can co tribute, we are equally greatful for that.

The deepest of gratitude!

Team Christine
