Anyone who has lived in Houston for any length of time and knows the local punk scene, knows Christian Kidd and his iconic mohawk, riding that vespa through town, and the punk tunes that have serenaded Houstonians for over 40 years.
What people should know if they don’t already is the life force and love of Christian’s life - Alexis Kidd.
Diagnosed with Stage IV congestive heart failure and Stage III kidney disease, Alexis’s exorbitant hospital costs in this outrageous healthcare cost economy is financially crippling. While Christian and Alexis both work, their combined finances don’t scratch the surface of the exorbitant debt that they face.
In 2007, Alexis was diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma, a form of cancer often affecting the lungs. Alexis put everything she had into fighting her cancer and she is still here, 13 years later, to inspire other patients battling mesothelioma.
Four years ago she had an attack at work. Taken to hospital she was given a LifeVest – a wearable defibrillator used to treat cardiac arrest. This past January, Alexis underwent surgery for arrhythmia.
No stranger to health issues, Christian is in remission from having stage III squamous cell carcinoma. As the punk and Houston communities have pulled through for Christian in the past, he too has played benefits and fundraisers for people. Now is the time that we humbly ask you to rise to the occasion and step up to help Alexis Kidd. No amount is too small, and sharing with your networks is sincerely appreciated.
