Medical fundraiser for Selina Foster

Hi, my name is Maggie Wadkins and I am Selina Foster’s cousin. Let me explain a little of her history as to why this GoFundMe has been created. She has an ileostomy bag and has had it for the past 12 years. She has no large intestines at all and so that puts a lot of pressure on her small intestines. Over the last 12 years she has had 8 major surgeries and 66 hospitalizations. There were times when it was very touch and go to say the least.

Selina is currently in the hospital. She recently went via ambulance because her stomach was expanded, she couldn’t stop vomiting, she was shaking in pain, and was already starting to become septic.

This is what the hospital discovered:

She has hernias that need to be removed and her small intestines were obstructed. Her hernias were trying to rupture because her small intestines had wrapped around a hernia. She has had blood in her ileostomy bag, has no appetite, and has had to receive nausea medication around the clock or else she stays sick. Her abdomen wall needs to be totally reconstructed along with several other things. Baptist wanted to transfer her, but she was too weak.

At this point she needs to go to a hospital that specializes in this area. It has been recommended that she go to a specific hospital in North Carolina for treatment. Even if she doesn’t go to North Carolina, she would, at the very least, have to go to the Ochsner Medical Center in Louisiana because she is an established patient at that hospital, and then go from there.

Selina has two boys and is also currently in the middle of a divorce. She needs our help to secure funds for a plane ticket, possible lodging for family, and most importantly - the insane amount of medical bills that she is going to accrue from this.
