As some of you have heard, Keli and Rick's son Dayton has been severely ill for the past few weeks. It started with a severe case of strep throat. Dayton seemed to have recovered after being treated with antibiotics. Thinking he’d fully recovered, his parents felt comfortable allowing him to go on a trip to Mexico with a friend’s family. Shortly after returning to AZ, he spiked a fever that stayed over 104 degrees for quite some time. He was treated at the ER, but the fever continued for days and Dayton was not able to eat during this time.
After losing a considerable amount of weight from an inability to keep food down, he had an endoscopy where the doctors discovered a severely ulcerated upper GI track and a yeast/fungal infection. Unfortunately, the treatment protocol has not worked. He has been admitted to Phoenix Children's Hospital where he has been placed on a feeding tube. He is down over twenty pounds and is still unable to keep food in his body. In addition to yeast and fungal infections, he also has been found to have a viral infection.
Needless to say, the McCanns are quickly approaching their out of pocket maximum for insurance as the cost for Dayton’s care adds up. I am starting this GoFundMe account to help take some of the medical cost burden off their plate so they have one less thing to cause them worry.
