Medical Fund for Mike Grillo - Please Help my Dad

Hi everyone,
As many of you know, a year and half ago my dad, Mike Grillo, came down with an awful case of viral meningitis. Unfortunately, this awful virus had progressed too much by the time he got to the ICU. It developed into encephalitis and he soon fell into a coma that would go on for months. Having this happen at any time would be difficult, but him going into the coma 3 weeks before my wedding, where I thought he would be walking me down the aisle and we would have our father-daughter dance to My Girl by the Temptations, has permanently shattered me.
The doctors were straight forward with us -- there was a roughly 20% chance of survival and virtually no chance for him to ever wake up from the coma. In true Iron Mike fashion, he beat the odds and woke up. Unfortunately, he woke up with severe irreparable brain damage, is completely paralyzed, and has required around-the-clock care in a nursing home since.
Navigating the labyrinth of our healthcare system has been a nightmare. Despite having insurance, my dad was denied long term care coverage, and we have been forced to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket for his nursing home. We are in the process of getting him Medicaid qualified, but face months of a cruel "penalty period" where Medicaid withholds coverage.
This past year has been absolute hell for my family. We have done our best to push through but have reached the end of the line financially. As much as it hurts my pride, we need help. We can't do this alone, and my dad needs his friends and loved ones to come through for him.
