Medical Expenses for Ernie's vision

In October of 2017 Ernie suffered a Retinal Artery Occlusion (an eye stroke)   It left him completely blind in his left eye.  He has vision in his right eye but has had to get glasses to try to improve that as much as possible.  His left eye however is totally blind....this effects his depth perception, he has no peripheral vision, etc.   It has altered his life to say the least. 
He has been referred to a Dr out of town that can do a procedure and treatments  that can possibly restore  vision in his left eye.  The Dr has had good results,  however it is not something insurance will cover due to the fact that he has vision in his right eye...they do not consider it to be necessary. 

I thought I would create this page to see how much we all can help Ernie with the out of pocket expenses for the procedure, traveling and continued treatments.  The procedure is costly and they will bill him and allow him to make payments but in order to get the procedure done in the first place he has to put down $4800 up front and be billed for the rest.  That is the part I was hoping we all could help with.....I know it is hard coming off the holidays to have extra money but anything will help...$5, $10, $20 or more.  Every little bit helps and it all adds up.
