Medical Expenses Cameron Thompson

Donation protected

Cameron Shayne Thompson, a senior at Orange High School, had a horrific longboarding accident in Churton Grove neighborhood on September 14th. He had five skull fractures, severe concussion, brain contusions, several seizures, bleeding from the nose and ears and a ruptured brain artery where the artery feeding blood to the lining of his brain was severed.
Renowned Neurosurgeon Dr. Carrie Muh performed an emergency epidural and subdural hematoma evacuation surgery to repair the bone and the bleed, installing plates and screws. With prayers and excellent medical care Cameron made improvements and was removed off the ventilator on Sunday, September 17th after several days of being in a medically induced coma.

Cameron was discharged from Duke Hospital on Monday, September 25, and transferred to Wake Medical Rehab facility for rehabilitation. After 48 hrs of intense physical, speech, and occupational therapy he was cleared to go home.

One month after leaving rehab Cam continues to amaze everyone with his perseverance. God has blessed Cam with remarkable healing and miracles. He still has mountains to climb to reach his full recovery. Like Moses, we are so thankful for what God has done however we still pray as Moses did in Exodus "God please show us Your glory". At this time Cam continues to battle mild seizures, post concussion syndrome, separated shoulder, daily back pain, short term memory loss, depression, anxiety, impulsiveness, fatigue, difficulty processing information and PTSD.

He has an amazing medical team with frequent appointments to receive treatment from a neuropsychologist, neurosurgeon, pediatric neurologist, concussion specialist, physical therapist, speech therapist, orthopedic surgeon, pediatrician, and ophthalmologist.

It truly takes a village.

Thankful for all the angels God has sent to help Cam and his whole family ❤️ Every hug, phone call, text, email, visit, meal, card, gift, donation, parking pass, yard work, eating at Jays Chicken Shack, shirt ordered, pet care, laundry, help with JJ and prayer has meant so much to them. They couldn't do it with out y'all ❤️ They are truly blessed to have such great friends and family. Please continue to lift Cam up in your prayers. He has made great progress but still has a ways to go before complete healing. God is good

Matthew 19:26
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
