Don protégé
Separated from her family all of whom have managed to make it to the United States, and stuck in Djibouti, Faeq is only 17 years old and has days to live unless she can get to the U.S with strong medical care. She was born in Yemen and initially received medical care there, however with Yemen's current situation, she cannot return to an active warzone.
Desperately trying to leave Yemen, Faeq escaped a warzone only to be stuck in Djibouti - a country with little to no medical care available.
Faeq just got her visa (the 17th of December 2018) to go to the United States after a long and arduous immigration process. Faeq hopes that she can reunite with her family and get the chance to experience life and follow her dreams.
Her one solid shot at life depends on her flying to the U.S within the next 3 days, and there is a doctor lined up to fly with her if only the funds can be raised. She needs to fly as soon as possible, and needs constant medical care for her flight. Because of the intricacies of Faeq's medical condition, simply placing her on a plane is not an option. She must be accompanied by a trained medical doctor and travel with a very specific set of equipment (that is also FDA approved and deemed safe for air travel in a pressurized cabin) to ensure that she can survive the journey.
Faeq has had multiple surgeries to attempt to improve her situation, but they have not been successful. Her last surgeries were in April of 2017 and November 2018 in Aden – conditions that have only worsened Faeq’s condition over time.
Right now, Faeq is struggling to breathe with every day raising questions about the next. Please help us get her to the United States in order to expedite her access to reliable medical care without the fear of an air strike or worrying about the high risks of infection and further suffering inherent in Djibouti’s living conditions.
UPDATE:
The team at Goldberg & Associates: Immigration Solutions, led by Attorney Julie Goldberg, has set up this platform so that members of the community are able to donate to and raise awareness of this pressing cause in one place before it is personally dispersed by Julie to cover the full expenses of Faeq's journey to the U.S. The funds from this campaign are going towards Faeq's flight, the flight for her monitoring Doctor (who has graciously donated four days of his time to fly roundtrip to Djibouti), and the medical equipment required by the airline for her to fly (her Oxygen tank must be FDA approved and release a very specific amount of O2/min that the Dr. is there to monitor). The total cost for everything is just over $26,000.00 USD. Our CEO has already donated $5,000.00 of her personal funds, and we are over halfway to raising the rest!
