Medical bills for a URGENT operation that is needed for Lee

For those of you who do not know, Lee-Anne fell and injured her left knee on the 16th of August.

Lee-Anne has been for an MRI today, 29th Aug, in Newcastle. The news is not good at all.

The injury that she has sustained on her left knee is a lot more serious than what we thought.

Upon impact on her knee, the kneecap moved and tore her ligament, and on jumping back into place, her cartilage in between the tibia and the femur (almost the full cartilage) broke away. This piece is currently lying loose in her knee.

Her knee currently has a lot of fluid, and it is building up daily on her knee.

The surgery that is needed is to open up her knee, repair the torn ligament, locate the cartilage that is broken off (only if it is big enough and not in pieces), and reattach this with screws.

The Dr has explained that this is not a small operation at all.

The orthopedic surgeon, as well as the radiologist, has explained that they have never seen an injury this serious before, where this big piece of cartilage has broken off.

We have not yet received the final amount from the hospital or the full report, as yet, we can expect this by Tuesday next week. I will also start a back a buddy as soon as I have all the proof from the hospital and doctors

However, they have stated that this will cost around R100 000 to R150 000

This amount does not even include medication and rehabilitation afterwards

The cost of the MRI today was R11589.00

The doctor wanted us to do this operation by Wednesday next week. This is how serious and urgent this is and if it is not done the fluid will just keep adding up and will eventually be inoperable.

However, we do not have the funds for this.

We have asked him to give us at least a week to see what plan we can make.

If there is anyone who would be able to assist with any donation at all, every little bit will help so that we are able to do this operation a.s.a.p.

Unfortunately, this is not an operation that can be done by a state hospital, and I would not be asking if this wasn't urgent.
