Closed. original hospital bills and continued care
Hi my name is Nailah. The title picture was taken in January 2021 of my 16 year old son Zyon. It is from 2 days after his 12 year old brother and I had to bust open his door and found him Unconscious after he tried to kill himself. This was his 3rd attempt in a year.
I am a working single mother with good health insurance but zyon’s medical and mental health bills have left us mentally, emotionally and financially struggling. Between 4-5 day hospital stays, 2 -3 week mental health stays, ambulances, psychiatrist, doctors, medication, and now ongoing therapy, we have quickly amassed almost 15,000 in medical and associated cost.
Zyon was a star football athlete, An A student who took AP and honors classes, and is a natural leader. He is very literal but often the life of the Party. He loves animals and wants to join the military. Covid stole his joy and made him a shell of my baby. You will notice the cuts on his arm in the photo. He feels he needs to cut just to feel. This is a daily struggle to help him feelworthy and not self harm. We want to get him an emotional support animal and send him to a specialized camp out of state.
For now, Zyon currently attends outpatient group therapy, 3 times a week with a 50 dollar copay per session. He sees a therapist 2x a week with $25 copay and his psychatrist is every other week with the $50 copay. We have not met our medical deductible this year and I am still on arrangements for 2020 bills. My monthly bills have increased by almost a $1000 a month and this doesnt include time I am taking off of work to care for him. I also know I need to get his brother therapy and myself because this has been traumatic for all of us but i have to take care of the bills.
As a mother I will do anything to help my child.I have borrowed, cut back on other non essentials, took out loans, and used all the stimulus, etc to continue to get him the help he needs. The ironic part is I dont qualify for any aid because I work and make above the poverty guidelines. I am normally proud of that, asI came from a rough background and now I am the 1st college graduate with an MBA in my family. However, in this instance I have decided to turn to you and gofundme to help with his bills and continued care.
