Carla has been diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease, and stage 5 kidney failure. PKD has no cure, and she will need a kidney transplant from a blood type A or O donor. The kidney transplant alone will cost $450,000 with an upfront payment of $50,000, plus the cost for 6 to 8 weeks of aftercare. Currently, Carla and Mike have to travel to Minnesota every few months to see her doctors there. Medical expenses, plus travel expenses are starting to add up on top of the upcoming cost from the kidney transplant. Our hope is to raise enough money to help ease the burden and stress from the medical bills, so that she can focus on spending quality time with her family while she waits for a donor.
