Medical Bill Fundraiser for Finn Hyttel

Donation protected
Hi I'm Ann-Mette, the sister of Finn Hyttel. We are Danish but my brother Finn lives on the beautiful island of Ko Samui with his Philippine partner Amalia. He has lived on Ko Samui for 20 years.

On the evening of 13th April 2024 around 6pm for Finn, the island was not quite as beautiful as normal. Finn was crossing the road to 7 /11 (which is a small mini market chain in Thailand) when tragically his life changed forever.

A motorbike travelling at great speed came hurtling towards Finn as he was about to step on the kerb. Finn's partner remembers hearing a massive bang, she rushed across the road to Finn who was lying on the street and the owner of a bar opposite called the rescue team and the police. The rescue team arrived in about 15 minutes and he was rushed into the rescue team's vehicle.

The police arrived at the scene of the accident later but Finn had already been rushed off in the ambulance.

Sadly Finn didn't have insurance.

Finn was in such bad condition that the rescue team called the ambulance from the nearest private hospital to meet them en-route. They transferred him to an ambulance in the street and rushed him to the hospital. He was unconscious and was losing a lot of blood from a severe head injury (mouth , ears and nose). Finn stayed there for 3 hours where the doctors and nurses fought to keep him alive and get him in a stable enough condition to transfer him again to the public hospital.

The ambulance and 3 hours in the private hospital cost 110,000 Baht , EUR2750, KR20,500

Finn was taken to the public hospital at 2.21am where he has been since drifting in and out of consciousness. He is unable to breath without tubes and oxygen, water, food and medicine can only be administered by tube. If that hasn;t been enough Finn also contracted Covid inside the hospital which gave him pneumonia.

18 days later the public hospital bill so far is 180,000 Baht , EUR4500, KR33,840 and we don't know how many more days, weeks or indeed months Finn may need to stay here.

We don't know what the future holds for Finn, such as whether he will be able to walk or speak again, or if he will have permanent damage. When he is stable enough, we will be trying to transfer him back to Denmark for more in depth tests, treatment and rehabilitation.

We have put a fundraising target here of EUR20,000 but we also don't know what the final medical bill will be for Finn's treatment.

However we know many of you have touched his life and he has touched your life and we are extremely grateful for any donations received

<We have spoken to the Danish Embassy in Bangkok but there is not really anything they can help with except for contact information for various authorities>
