Mechanics @ FIRST LEGO League STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!

Our last and final fundraiser for the 2023 FLL Season!

I am Mrs. Phillips, the STEM instructor at Modern Minds Learning in Ormond Beach, Florida! My rookie team, the Modern Minds Mechanics have made it to the State Championship at UNF on March 31st and April 1st.

At regionals, this team persisted through their robotics struggles and won overall for Robotic Design - which I have never had a team receive! A HUGE accomplishment, although these students deserve it. Beautiful documentation and presentation overall, but specifically on their robot. They have a team of 9 students (already hard in the first place) and they have all grown beyond my expectations.

Their project is called Farms of the Future. They have designed a livestock farm specifically for cattle that can capture methane emissions and convert them to energy. We have toured the Volusia Landfill to review this process and are in the process of sharing our project with large dairy companies.

I have seen this program move mountains in children and develop passions you don’t typically see at a young age. The leadership skills and presentation skills they learn in one year alone can impact their educational experience for a lifetime. The topics excite students and they truly feel they are making a difference in our ever-changing world. The students are beyond challenged with rigor and provide a level of excellence from their intrinsic motivation. Let’s raise these kiddos up and help them celebrate their majorly successful season.

The funds raised cover their competition expenses such as registration, snacks, giveaways, pit activities, etc.
