Doug’s Medical Expenses

Doug suffered from a mild stroke Monday November 13 around 7PM. He was later stabilized in the ICU after having a second, more severe stroke around midnight where he lost all mobility in his right side. He has been taking the first steps towards recovering from this tragic event, but will likely take months to regain his mobility, if at all.The first concern he had after his stroke was to ensure all of his customers who had their vehicles at the shop were able to get those picked up. He ensured that we had to contact customers with appointments over the next couple of weeks to explain to them the situation and try to help get their vehicles in elsewhere. His loyalty to his customers and his community has been proven time and time again. He has always done everything he could to help others out when they needed it most. The small town garage he owns in Mexico, NY, Doug’s Automotive, is ran solely by him. This means he does not have any employees and will receive no incoming funds during this time. To top things off, he also does not have health insurance. For the past five years he has been paying out of pocket for all medical expenses. He won’t be able to pay these expenses out of pocket.He was very hesitant to let us ask our family, friends and communities for this favor, but he knows that the road to recovery is going to be a long one. Following what looks like a 2+ week stay at Crouse Irving Hospital it is recommended that he is admitted into an inpatient facility to give him the therapy he needs to possibly be able to walk again in the future.We appreciate anything you can share to help. All funds raised will go directly to his medical expenses and his recovery. Life as we know it just changed in the blink of an eye. Keep your loved ones close this holiday season.
