MEC Trust Hurricane Disaster Relief

Tax deductible
As Marlboro Electric Cooperative, an electric cooperative in Bennettsville, SC was nearing the completion of Hurricane Florence storm restoration,  the employees began to realize that the storm is just beginning for some in the area.  While working to bring power back to it's members, the cooperative team saw suffering in some of their eyes.  Suffering caused by much more than losing power due to a storm.  Some of the members of Marlboro Electric lost their homes, their possessions and their lives as they once knew.  That's when team members began to ask themselves what do we do next?  How can Marlboro Electric help those who are in need in the communities we serve?  The MEC Trust board had an emergency meeting and decided to create an emergency hurricane relief fund that will be used to assist those who need it the most.  Whether it’s food, clothes, gas, medicine, home repairs or other supplies, MEC Trust wants to lend a hand to people in our area who need it the most.

100% of these funds will go directly to the victims of this devastating storm.  Restoring power sometimes takes days but restoring lives always takes much longer.  Let’s begin now, together!

These donations will be managed by the MEC Trust Board and distributed to those in need in Marlboro and Dillon counties (not just Marlboro Electric Members.)  The Trust is a 501c3 non-profit and all contributions will be tax deductible.
