Meals for Unsung Heroes

Tax deductible
**UPDATE 5/18** We met our Match Challenge from the Beanstalk Foundation and reached our second goal of $20K! Just this morning we received news that our campaign received a $1,500 contribution from an anonymous donor. ; ) ; ) Considering the ongoing need and a few more days, we have decided to organize a FINAL STRETCH goal of $25K by midnight on Thursday, May 21 when our campaign closes! Each and every dollar will continue to go directly to our caterers in providing meals for essential workers in the next couple of weeks. We are so grateful for each and every one of you!

WHY THIS CAMPAIGN

Going to work is now a daily act of heroism for essential workers at grocery stores, assisted living facilities, and hospitals. With no clear end date in sight for this health crisis, a morale boost for essential workers is needed and within our power to achieve. Collectively, we can show our gratitude and appreciation by delivering meals to their workplaces — providing nourishment for the body and the spirit — demonstrating that the community sees them and wants to take care of them.

The meals will be prepared by local caterers -- impassioned food entrepreneurs, who like many others, have seen their revenue streams vanish with the cancellation of all social gatherings. Purchasing meals from these local entrepreneurs will allow them to reignite their businesses to benefit those on the frontline of COVID19.

By taking care of each other, we ALL benefit. You can participate in this movement, in this moment.

WHO IS THIS CAMPAIGN FOR

Essential Workers:
Meals will be delivered to frontline heroes in the COVID19 pandemic:
Grocery store workers, staff at assisted living facilities, and workers at hospitals.

Local Caterers:
Alejandro Flores, owner of Stokes Poke
Erika Rojas, owner of Prieto's Catering
Jay and Marquies Whisenton, owners of Feeding the Multitudes
Elena Martinez, owner of E Hijole Tacos and Catering
Regina Edmondson, owner of CMe Catering, Meetings, and Events
Silvia Hernandez, owner of La Catrina Grill

These local food entrepreneurs have been partnering with the Center for Community Wealth Building (CCWB) for the past 6-18 months. The caterers listed above are People of Color who are working together to share their love and culinary talent at prices that maximize the impact of dollars raised for this effort. Each caterer has created a special COVID19 menu.

2. PLEASE SHARE THIS CAMPAIGN
It’s an easy and impactful way to make a difference. Boost front-line workers' morale by letting them know they are appreciated. Support local entrepreneurs of color and keep their dream of small business ownership alive.

3. BOOKMARK CATERING WEBSITES
Follow them on social media. And best of all, hire them — hopefully in the not too distant future — when you are able to entertain your friends and family or host work gatherings.

WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO

ALL donations to this campaign will be used to purchase meals for essential workers from local caterers committed to the greater good.

HOW WILL IT WORK

Our team will order meals and arrange for deliveries to essential frontline heroes as donations come in. If we reach our goal, six caterers will each receive approximately $500 worth of orders every week for four weeks. We will extend the fundraising campaign if stay-at-home orders are extended.

WHO IS RUNNING THIS CAMPAIGN

The Center for Community Wealth Building  works to build an economy that catalyzes prosperous and resilient communities free from racism and injustice. It’s current strategic priorities include promoting and advancing the field of worker cooperatives, strengthening local People of Color-owned small businesses and entrepreneurship, and engaging anchor institutions to leverage their economic muscle to help close the racial wealth gap through their procurement, hiring, and investment practices.

Good Business Colorado  is a statewide organization of values-driven business owners who are dedicated to building a prosperous economy, equitable communities, and a sustainable environment in Colorado. Our members take an active role in shaping public policy that impacts our communities and businesses. We challenge the lines of partisanship and lead with our values because we believe that business success cannot be measured by profit alone and that true success means that our planet, communities, and bottom lines are all thriving.

Intrinsic Paths  is the name of Jonathon Stalls’ creative journey/work/offerings. Intrinsic Paths roots into a way of being that honors contemplative practice, walking invitation, pedestrian/human dignity, nature wisdom, and courageous living. In addition to producing art, walking workshops, and educational programming, he spends significant time supporting grassroots movements that align with his mission. His work is supported by patrons who value his contributions to elevating individual and collective consciousness.
