McKenzie's Fund

My beautiful healthy neice McKenzie became ill with what she thought was the flu at the beginning of September. After what seemed to be a very prolonged bout of the flu she began to turn yellow and we quickly realized that it was not the flu. She was hospitalized for three weeks in Barrie while they tried to sort things out. After three weeks and a specialist appointment in Toronto, they sent her home saying that it was acute viral hepatitis and it would have to run its course. While at home for the next several weeks her condition did not improve and she was taken back to the hospital several times as things seemed to be getting worse. 
Last week, things got critical and McKenzie's liver failed and her kidneys were also failing. She was listed at the top of the National donor registry and thankfully, they were able to complete a liver transplant in time to save her life. 
Now the road to recovery begins and it doesn't sound like it's going to be easy. We are collecting money for the family to help with all of the unexpected costs of helping McKenzie along her journey to wellness.
