McKenzie “Mimi” Thompson (the ONLY gofundme page)

Our lives will never be the same.

It pains me to write the following words that I never in a million years thought I would be writing

Yesterday, July 31st 2023, we lost our bold and beautiful McKenzie to suicide.

Mckenzie “Mimi” was the second of five children to Nick Thompson and Amanda Tuttle. She was such a nurturing sister and loved her siblings deeply. She was an incredible daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, and friend. This loss has left an unfillable void and pain that no family should have to bear.

McKenzie was the light of not just our lives- but everyone she met. From the moment she could talk, she never knew a stranger and would always wear a smile from ear to ear. She had such an infectious spirit and a truly beautiful soul. She was strong and fearless but also incredibly kind. She enjoyed being outside and had an unwavering love for nature and all its creatures. Anytime you would see Mimi- she would be holding and trying to bring home some type of animal. She had always dreamed of growing up and owning a farm and being a vet.

Unfortunately, she left us far too soon and those dreams and aspirations will forever play in our heads of who she could have been.

During middle school at Harrison Junior High Mckenize endured constant bullying from not only students but teachers as well. Our bright beautiful light had started to dim. McKenzie felt devastating effects from the bullying and began struggling with depression. She was going to be an incoming freshman but the pain she endured the previous years became too much for her and she tragically took her life.

The funds raised from this gofund me will be used to help McKenzie’s family with funeral expenses, counseling support, and to raise awareness for suicide and bullying- and hopefully make a difference in the lives of other young souls like Mimi’s who may be silently suffering.

A celebration of life for McKenzie will be held- information will be updated as it is available.
UPDATE: Celebration of Life for McKenzie will be this Friday August 4th at 4pm. The memorial will be held at Miami White Water at the Visitor Center Pavillion (changed from the Big Sycamore shelter). Please see the facebook event "Celebration of Life for McKenzie Thompson" for more information. And deepest Thank You's to Brad Day from Day Precision Wall and everyone single person that has donated and shared McKenzie’s story so far.

Thank you for your love, support, and compassion during this unfathomable loss. If you cannot donate please consider sharing to bring awareness to the issue of bullying and mental health. To anyone that may be struggling, please remember that you are not alone. Life gets better. But you have to be here for it to get better. You are loved and worthy. Don’t give up.

14 years was way too short. But you made our lives better everyday and we will continue to honor your memory. We promise to make this world a better place for the other Mimi’s out there and try to protect the light that you carried. We will spend the rest of our lives missing you, but it gives us solace to know that your mind is finally at peace. You were and will always be deeply loved.

Forever 14 ❤️
