McKenna Huber - fund to help move to a safer home

Our apartment flooded - Complex refuses to replace damaged floors and walls - Unsafe due to mold & bacteria

A little back story on our sweet girl McKenna, she was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 when she was 3 1/2 weeks old.

SMA is a genetic disease affecting the central nervous system, peripheral nervous system, and voluntary muscle movement. SMA involves the loss of nerve cells called motor neurons in the spinal cord and is classified as a motor neuron disease.

Mckenna cannot move on her own, she relies 100% on a caregiver, I her mother quit my job when she was diagnosed to be her 24/7, 7 days a week 365 days a year caregiver.

She has a tracheostomy and is on a ventilator, she uses a feeding tube for nutrition and has to have several machines by her side at all times to continue living and thriving. (Ventilator, Feeding pump, Cough assist, Nebulizer, Shake vest system, Oxygen tank, Suction machine, Humidifer in line with ventilator, ambu bag for CPR and rescue breathes.)

In the beginning of November our apartment had a pipe break and was leaking all over our apartment, damaging all of our property, luckily we have renters insurance to cover our damaged property but it does not cover to help us move unfortunately

Our complex is notorious for not responding to emergent situations in a timely manner (Waterford Square Apartments owned by Ressco)

The pipe started leaking on November 13th after a maintenance technician here changed our tub faucet and put a hole in the pipe with a wrench and did not notice and just put the new faucet on- I notified emergency maintenance when I noticed the leak on Friday the 15th. I called numerous times with no results, they finally did show up the following week after the pipe had already been leaking for 5 days and damaged items day after day in our apartment.

The pipe was fixed on the 19th but the issue now is the floors and walls were 100% moisture damaged per inspection through our insurance agency inspector. Our inspector instructed us to leave the property and that it was unsafe to live there due to the mold and bacteria from leaking for 5 days before being fixed.

The apartment management did not extract the wet floors until day 10 after the 1st day of the leak, did not put any fans down until I begged for fans for 3 days or even care about our daughters safety to have the walls fixed or the carpet replaced or cleaned.

I even went as far as getting in contact with the corporate of the company and the owner and still nothing was resolved.

We have been staying in a hotel for over 2 weeks now, we only have funds left for a couple more days for a hotel - we have applied for a home to rent, we can move in, in as little as 3 - 4 days, we just need help with the costs for security deposit and moving costs!

We rely solely on her loving and devoted fathers income to stay afloat, while he absolutely works hard, sometimes 7 days a week, we do have enough money to pay our bills, but we still live pay check to paycheck. We have about $150 towards this move, but we cannot do it alone! We need the help of all of our loving friends and family to help us get to a safe home to rent until we can buy a house hopefully in the spring/summer!

Please share this go fund me with your friends and family to help the word spread! Thank you all so much for the help and any positive thoughts and prayers are welcome to help us through this mess!!
