Our Mom's Fight with Cancer.
Our mom, Sadie Noftall, was diagnosed in December of 2010 with stage 3 Breast Cancer. She underwent a radical mastectomy, radiation and chemotherapy. In 2011 she was declared "Cancer Free". However, at a regular check up later in 2014 she found out that the cancer was back as stage 4 and now in her lungs. June 2014 she started a new chemo treatment which ultimately was shrinking her tumors. At her next scan results later in December of 2014 she was given the news that the cancer had spread to more lymph nodes, and the oncologist suggested starting a new chemo treatment in pill form which she can receive at a local hospital instead of traveling into the city every week which is an hour away.
During all of this she has not complained, has remained positive and strong both physically and emotionally. Looking at her as an outsider you would never know the real pain and challenges she is facing. She's always more concerned about how the rest of the family is doing and what she can do to help us. She truly is our hero!
Most recently in early February 2015, her speech became slurred and she seemed off balance as well as dizzy. The oncologist then sent her for a CT scan of her brain. February 11th the scan revealed there were two tumors in her brain. Now she is on a new pill form treatment which we remain hopeful to help shrink the brain tumors and later receive radiation.
We are hoping to help fund to get her further treatment at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The donations will help with travel and any extra medical expenses that may arise.
