Mayfield KY Tornado Recovery Effort

Donation protected
Hi. My name is April Evans and I own a small home based business in Mayfield, Kentucky. The city of Mayfield has been my hometown now for the last 11 years. I grew up about 20 miles from here in Murray.  I am a true Kentuckian born and raised. My late Father was a minister at Christ United Methodist Church on Broadway Street in Mayfield for several years. He and my Mother chose the city of Mayfield for their retirement.

On Friday, December 10th, our town of Mayfield was heavily impacted by an EF-4 tornado that tore through 4 different states and left complete destruction in its wake. The photo you see here is just one of many scenes taken by local drones in the area of our downtown. Our courthouse, police department, jail, post office and court square took direct hits. So many businesses, homes, restaurants, churches were completely leveled to their foundations, as well.

With Christmas looming ahead, many of our residents face the difficulties of seeking shelter, heat, water and food, and clothing. Our town have been blessed by donations from so many. Yet, so many are doing without the basics still due to waiting on FEMA and Insurance companies to get their funds to them. I am hoping to raise funds for those who have immediate needs. Funds raised will be used to provide food, water, shelter costs, blankets, batteries, gas and kerosene to keep people warm, clean up efforts, and future rebuilding efforts.
I am looking into local charity/churches to locate one or more that I can send the funds directly to in order to meet the ongoing needs of the people. I will update with the name of the organization(s), once I have confirmation from them. The need is so great and will be long term. It's going to take my little city of Mayfield a long time to clean up and rebuild, but they will persevere with your help.

I understand it's Christmas and many are stretched thin already, but I humbly ask if you could provide a small donation to these wonderful, loving, God-fearing, hard working people that I call my neighbors and friends. So many have lost EVERYTHING. Homes, cars and all the things many worked their whole lives to acquire were gone in a blink of an eye. Many do not even have a place of employment because the tornado hit their work place. They are living in the school gym and halls of Mayfield High School. They are strewn across the towns nearby with friends and family and crammed well above capacity. They have such a long road ahead of them.

My heart aches for my Mayfield community. I am only one person but together we can move mountains.  Help me make a difference in some people's lives. No amount is too small and every dollar counts. All funds will be given directly to the charity/church via check or Paypal on an ongoing basis. The recovery efforts will take time and many families may continue to be displaced well into next year.
