Max is the survivor of  a hit and run accident that destroyed his bike. This is to replace his bike and help cover any other expenses he and his parents may encounter.

UPDATE FROM MAXS MOTHER:

Max update: I'm happy to report that Max continues to improve. The doctors told Peter that they are passing to move Max out of the ICU this morning!!! They also want to get him up and moving and start therapy today. *happy dance*

When they can get him awake enough (very hard sleeper + concussion + immense pain= crazy hard to wake), he's really on top of answering questions. This is FANTASTIC, but also means he's even more aware of the pain. They did try giving liquid oxy yesterday afternoon, since the i.v. morphine they were supplementing to the Tylenol drip didn't seem to be helping a whole lot, but the second it hit his stomach he vomited. I'm hopeful now that he's more oriented and showing neuro improvement they will be more open to trying other pain meds.

I can't say thank you enough to EVERYONE for the ongoing outpouring of love and support. We are more blessed than we ever realized. Huge hugs to everyone (I just wish I could do it in real life for each of you)! Please continue to pray as Max still has a rough road ahead of him.

As a final note: I know it may be difficult, but if you have a family member that you feel is no longer safe to be driving, PLEASE, have the hard discussion, the argument, the hurt feelings, and try to make them understand you need to take their keys. If you see someone driving erratically or is otherwise being unsafe, please call the police so they can check in the driver and make sure they're okay to be driving. (I've done this a few times and I promise the cops aren't going to be upset that you called.) You're not just saving the person behind the wheel, you're saving someone else.
Additionally, please push your kids to wear a bike helmet when riding their bikes. It sucks, it's uncomfortable, it doesn't look cool, I get it. Hell, most of us didn't wear them growing up and we came throgh ok. But that's MOST of us. And if it saves one kid, one family, one community this heartache, it's worth it. The discomfort and imposition is way better than the alternative should something go wrong. If it helps, show Max's picture and share his story. We were lucky... this could have been so much worse.
