Mattie’s Riding Fund

As many of you know, Mattie had a pretty traumatic birth. As she grew, we noticed that some things were a bit off and she was struggling to meet her milestones. We moved from Illinois to Tennessee to be closer to family and Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, where she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. CP effects everyone in different ways. For Mattie it has caused left sided weakness in her body, sensory processing issues, motor planning difficulties, speech and auditory processing delays, etc. Mattie has never let these challenges get in the way of the things she wants to do. Recently, we discovered that she has a tumor on her spine, which will require surgery for removal. Until then, we have been tasked with keeping Mattie as active as possible to keep her moving and her strength up. Mattie has participated in a wonderful equine therapy program called Take The Reins at White Fawn Farm while on a scholarship and it has helped her in so many ways. Due to Covid, the program has lost most of their funding from much needed donations and were still tasked with the care of the horses during shut down. We received word that they are no longer able to provide scholarships to riders and for Mattie to continue to be able to ride, we will need to pay for her lessons. We are asking for help for our sweet Mattie, so that she can continue her therapy at the farm. The amount we are trying to raise will cover her riding fees for a year.
