Matthew Needs Medical Care and Surgery

Donation protected
Matt Cisneros Walters is going blind in both eyes. This is a 27 year old young man who has always had a positive attitude in life despite his life with juvenile diabetes and other health problems he was born with and treated for since birth. He was diagnosed with Type I diabetes when he was 8 1/2 years old after being hit hard enough to cause physical damage by a 17 year old. After 4 months of trips back and forth to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston and 16 pounds lost, a general practitioner finally diagnosed him with Type I diabetes in Lake Jackson, Tx.
As some of you may understand how difficult growing up with a lifelong illness is, Matthew still has lived each day with hopes for every day to be better. He has always worked hard and looked forward to trying to pursue his dreams like anyone else . But his diabetes has always  been difficult to manage as hard as he has tried. And his eyes have very quickly  begun to go  blind. He was seen by physicians at Memorial Hermann immediately this week when he couldn't see at all in his left eye and barely any in his right.  The doctors and staff were very concerned and caring and paid for his appointment and initial treatment themselves because we have no insurance.  We were told if Matt did not get surgery he needs for detached retinas and bleeding he would go completely blind in both eyes very quickly. Waiting not even another day was an option to begin eye injections first.
The wonderful doctors at the Eye Center began their first series of eye injections and are trying to find a way to provide Matthew with the surgery he needs quickly. That means trying to get the funds. As we have no insurance and live outside of Harris County it may take time as we don't have the finances to move to Harris County to qualify him for the medical coverage, so every day we lose is another day Matthew loses more eyesight.
Matt was working in a lab as a contractor for Kelly Services but doesn't have even short term disability, and stopped being able to drive because of his sight a week ago. He is unable to work and without income as of last week. And without income just trying to figure out what can be done to survive is a big concern.
We live in Brazoria County and it isn't a simple process to get him assistance but we are trying. So far , nothing yet. Funds are not something we have. Creating a GoFundMe is something a parent or anyone never wants to have to do and as his mother I am asking for donations that will go to help him with medical expenses and to help him try to survive during this devastating health condition that might become a permanent way of life for him. I am a single parent and unable to come up with the funds for surgery and medical care as well. Anything anyone can do to help him will be greatly appreciated.
If anyone has any suggestions on resources concerning what I can do or where we can turn to help Matt please leave a comment or contact myself or Ariana Freeman (Matt's sister) who is assisting in managing Matt's GoFundMe Medical needs.
Thank you.
