Mason's Summer Theatre Program Fund

Donation protected
My name is Mason Sharon, and I am a sophomore in high school. I live in Missouri and I have lived there all my life. Since I was in second grade, I have always wanted to be onstage. I have participated in my school plays and in fourth grade, my dad suggested I audition for Willy Wonka Jr. at the Center for Creative Arts, a local conservatory for arts education. I have never looked back.

I'm sixteen now, and have since been in shows like Alice in Wonderland Jr., Seussical Jr., Once on this Island, Mary Poppins, Hairspray, and Sweet Charity.

I have been a serious theatre kid since I was ten, and I couldn't imagine my life without it. I do three to four shows a year, whether that be onstage, or run crew, or ushering. Theatre has been almost half of my life, and my dream is to be a part of theatre for the rest of it.

I recently got this amazing opportunity to spend this summer in L.A. at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts Summer Program. It's a pre-college program that fosters children's love of the arts, and helps heighten their craft. I wasn't even sure I would get in, and the school has been home to amazing actors and actresses. I would get the opportunity to spend five weeks in the heart of Hollywood with a group of amazing, talented people who are as passionate about theatre as I am,  doing what we love in an environment specifically suited for it. I am also really excited to representing Filipino Americans in theatre, because it would be amazing to see more of us in media and acting. For this program the total expenses end up at $6775.*

This includes:
• Tuition - $3750
• Housing - $2175
• Air Fare - $350
• Emergency - $500

*By February 12th, when payment is due so I can secure my spot.

Between my job, and my parents, I have accrued $3200, which leaves $3575. And this is where I need people whom I care about and who I know care deeply about me. Any amount is greatly appreciated, but for those that give $50 or more, I will make a pair of earrings and for those who give $100 or more, I will make a bracelet.

My grandma taught me how to do bead weaving, and I have been making jewelry like this since I was nine and I'm excited to make some pieces for you.

Thank you for taking the time to read about something that means so much to me. I know you understand what a great opportunity this is.
