Masai Preschool
Donation protected
Baraka Preschool is in a very poor Masai community in northern Tanzania. Although a charity built the school, there is no funding for operating costs. We need funds to pay two teachers and provide for supplies.
In Tanzania, children must speak Swahili in order to enter school. Village Masai children speak Maa. Without the preschool, they cannot enter public school. It is particularly important for girls to go to school to help them avoid being married at the age of 12.
Masai families living in rural areas can be very poor. They live in mud and dung huts . Life is very hard especially for the women and girls who are expected to build the huts, fetch water (often walking many miles, and firewood.
In such poor families, children suffer because they do not have enough food and cannot get and education.
