Hello, family, friends, acquaintances and those I've never met! A small team of passionate humanitarians and I will be visiting the country of Malawi in Africa on a mission trip called "Shoes4TheSoul!" in July of 2014. This will be my first mission trip and means so very much! We endeavor to spend time building relationships with the citizens and exchanging love and culture, all this on top of the main objective to deliver the gift of shoes to so many in need.
Amongst the least developed nations and the 2nd poorest country in the entire world, so many Malawians die needlessly from horrific sanitation conditions that bring rampant disease. Countless people exist suffering extreme poverty, where families, with employment or not, cannot afford food, clothes, clean water, and other necessities at the same time; so they are forced to make life threatening sacrifices. Something as simple as a pair of shoes promotes health for children and adults and could literally save a life -- not to mention bring great hope and joy!
I have joined a team with eleven (11) other individuals from my local church, The Sanctuary Village of Power Inc. in Atlanta, GA, PA, OH. For two weeks we will spend time with the people there sharing in fellowship, dancing, singing, devotions, feeding the hungry and pouring out as much life and love as possible. We also endeavor to help socially prosper Zomba, Malawi, and surrounding villages by bringing tools to educate on healthcare, specifically HIV/AIDS hygiene. Our ministry's mission is "Love God; Love Others; Serve the World!" And we are on fire with determination to bring love and cater to the needs of each soul on this earth, from Atlanta to Malawi.
Every person needs love and, typically, every person needs shoes; right?! If you love to help those in need but are unable to venture out yourself, please help by supporting this cause and making a contribution. We have the opportunity to show someone that they are not alone and forgotten in this world but thought of and loved. Such a small gift could change the life of any child or adult, and your donation could truly be someone's miracle.
With your support, you are not only investing in the care of another soul but my own life's purpose. Going to Africa on a missions trip has been a deep, life-long desire of my heart that I have shared with many. And I cannot begin to express the gift this trip is in affording me an opportunity to do what I've been called to do in life.
My trip is going to cost approximately $4,000, which is expected to cover the cost of my airfare, room and board, transportation, some of the expense of sending our pastor, vaccinations, and some packing items. Our missions team has planned a gamut of events and fundraisers in order to collect shoes and cover the cost of transporting them all, as well as to provide food during times of fellowship while there.
I am extremely grateful to anyone who is able and willing to donate. My hope is to raise my goal amount by April 2014. Any amount given, large or small, is very much appreciated.
